Rev. Craig Hauschild, Senior Pastor |
| Email: craig@ehumc.org |
|
I was called to ministry at an early age. At fourteen, while working in a mission setting on the south side of Chicago, I felt a nudge to devote my life to God’s service. Eventually, I discerned the call to ordained ministry as an elder in the United Methodist Church. I grew up on the outskirts of Hutchinson, Kansas, attending Haven High School. Kansas Wesleyan University was the perfect setting for me to complete a bachelor’s degree in Religion. I completed my Masters of Divinity degree at Duke University in Durham, NC. Married to Dayna for 23 years, we have two children, Jessica and Nathan and a dog named Wesley John.

Rev. Ross Baker, Associate Pastor |
| Email: ross@ehumc.org |
| Born and raised in Wichita KS, Ross grew up primarily on the west side of Wichita. Graduating from Maize High School Ross continued his educational endeavors at Southwestern College in Winfield Kansas. While at Southwestern, Ross met his wife Amanda. Two years later they were married. Both recognizing a call into ministry they pursued Master of Divinity degrees in the “Windy City” of Chicago at Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary; it was during their time in Chicago that Ross and Amanda were blessed with their first child James Bennett Baker. In 2010, the Baker family returned to Kansas where Amanda took on a full-time associate position at Calvary United Methodist, and Ross took on a full-time position of chaplain at Wesley Medical Center. Commissioned as a Provisional Elder in May of 2010 Ross continues to work towards ordination as an Elder in the United Methodist Church. When Ross is not working he enjoys: playing with his son James, catching a movie or theatre production with his wife, singing, baking, or simply taking in the “Great Outdoors.” They are excited to announce the arrival of Baby Baker #2 around January 30th of 2012! |

Since December of 1996, the music at East Heights has been under the direction of Brenda Heard. Brenda continually seeks new and creative ways to enhance worship through music.
Brenda is an Ordained Deacon in the United Methodist Church. A lifelong Methodist with a Master's Degree in Music Education from Wichita State University, Brenda brings a real passion for music in all styles that communicates the truths of our faith in both old and new ways.
In addition, she has a great love for children. One of the most enjoyable tasks of the week is conducting the Rainbow Choir of energetic 4-6 year-olds. Brenda can often be seen hanging out at the church nursery or holding babies during church events.
Brenda's husband Tony is a lieutenant with the Wichita Fire Department. Her oldest daughter, Emily, attends OSU School of Osteopathic Medicine, while her youngest, Hallie, attends East High School. The Heards are granted "permission" to live in their home by their two cats, Yinyue and XinXin, whose names are Chinese for "music" and "faith." In her spare time, Brenda composes and arranges music for many local groups, loves scrapbooking, reads voraciously, and occasionally manages a round of golf. |

Paige Nelson, Director of Youth Ministries |
|
Email: paige@ehumc.org
|
| To survive in youth ministry you must have a passion for young people. Paige came to be in ministry with the youth of East Heights shortly after she graduated from Kansas State University. She began her ministry as a 6th grade Sunday school teacher, then as a member of the interim youth staff. She was called into full-time youth ministry and became the Director of Youth Ministry in September of 1993. God’s ministry through her is rooted in the desire to walk alongside youth on their faith journey. The hope is for growth in their relationship with God through reaching out to others, digging into God’s Word, worshipping, and creating friendship and fun with others on the journey. Loving youth is a full-time adventure. A companion with her in ministry is her husband, Scott. When they are not with the youth, they love to spend time with their two dogs, Duke and Zeus and their families. It is important to Paige that all youth know that East Heights is a place where they are welcome and loved no matter what. |

I was born in Wichita and have been here my entire life. I began studying violin at the age of seven. My love for music was evident from the beginning. My Aunt gave me a toy keyboard and after running out of keys many times, due to its smallness, my parents soon purchased a full sized piano. By the age of nine, I was accompanying at church and continued accompanying elementary through middle and high schools. After graduating from East High School in 1985, I attended Wichita State University studying piano and violin. I completed a degree in Piano Accompanying four years later. I married in 1992 and, also, went back to Wichita State University to work on my teaching certification. In 1997, I began my teaching career at Mead Middle School, where I am currently employed, teaching Vocal Music grades 6-8. My husband Jerry and I have two children Joshua, 19 and Jennifer, 18.
