Motivation
for Ministry … Finding Your Passion for Ministry |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| At
East Heights, everyone is encouraged to pursue the ministry of their dreams
through our Motivation for Ministry program. The program is not like traditional ministry programs that ask you to join a committee. Instead, you’re asked to prayerfully consider where and how you’d most like to serve God and others, either in the church or in the community. While we hold an annual Motivation for Ministry event every spring, it is a program that is active all year long. Anytime you feel called to start a ministry, join a ministry or explore a ministry, you’re encouraged to talk to the pastors, staff or others at the church and get moving toward your dream ministry! |

| The mission of East Heights United Methodist Church is to witness for Jesus Christ and glorify God, with the guidance of the Holy Spirit, through worship, study and acts of love. Every person is offered opportunities to participate in mission activities which serve not only the Wichita community, but reach out to serve the global community. Through these activities we hope to share our very real commitment to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ to all people. | Christmas Angel Tree | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| In response to concerns about the world we live in. East Heights created the Environmental Task Force to keep us aware how we can act responsibly in a world of limited resources. Through the hard work of this task force, East Heights has received a Creation Care award from the Kansas West Annual Conference every year since 1993. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| One of the most popular mission projects at East Heights is the annual Angel Tree. People of all ages are invited to select an angel from a common Christmas tree that represents a needy child in the community. Presents are then bought for the child and distributed by United Methodist Youthville. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| United Methodist Urban Ministries - Food Donations | Family Work Trip to Louisiana | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| East Heights holds an annual food drive at Thanksgiving for United Methodist Urban Ministries. Church members fill sacks with non-perishable food items. We also realize that hunger is not seasonal. Therefore, collection barrels are placed around the church to collect food year round. Volunteers deliver the food on a monthly basis. | There are many activities a family can choose over spring break, but East Heights offers a unique opportunity for families to work together to make a difference in the world. In March, a work team of all ages will drive to Louisiana to work with families affected by Hurricane Katrina. The trip is designed to be both affordable and convenient. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
