Missions for all ages

Crafting for Christ  reaches out - through crafts - to people who are struggling, lonely or in need of an enjoyable diversion, We create craft kits for others to use. Sometimes we help others make the crafts, such as when we visit nursing home residents or hospitalized veterans, and at other times the craft kits are delivered for use. You can serve in this ministry by assembling craft kits at your convenience or help with a group event, such as a visit to a nursing home.

Recycle Ministry cares for God's Earth by reusing, reducing and recycling. We recycle items used within the church and provide a monthly Recycle Sunday on the second Sunday of each month from 8:15-11 a.m. in which members bring their cleaned, sorted recyclables to the church for delivery to the Recycling Center. You could help by sorting recyclables that morning or delivering and unloading items at the Recycle Center.

VA Outreach offers us a chance to enjoy time with those who have served us and our country. You can serve in this ministry by visiting the veterans at the nearby Robert Dole Veterans Administration Facility to play BINGO, billiards, make crafts and decorate for the holidays.

Sack Lunches for the Homeless feeds the hungry served by United Methodist Open Door Drop In Center. You could help with this ministry, which meets on the second Wednesday of the month in Hedrick Hall, by helping prepare sack lunches for more than 100 people.

Backpacks and School Supplies Drive makes sure every child has the tools needed to start the school year off right. During July and August, we collect new backpacks and supplies to share with foster children and others in need. Financial contributions also are welcome.

United Methodist Open Door Food Pantry helps to feed the hungry. We collect non-perishable food items year-round and also sponsor a Thanksgiving Food Drive for this agency. Next time you are at the grocery store, pick up an extra food item, such as peanut butter or canned vegetables, and drop it off in our Mission Center in the Coffee House. You also could help by delivering food to Open Door once a month.

Christmas Star Tree invites everyone to select from our church Christmas tree a star that represents a child living in foster care. After purchasing the gift, you place the unwrapped gift under the tree. All gifts are distributed by United Methodist Youthville.
