Prayer Volunteer Opportunities

As East Heights seeks to make Disciples of Jesus Christ and share God's love with the world, we put a high priority on prayer. If you'd like to get involved or find out more about these ministries,
contact Beth Strickler, Director of Prayer Ministries at 682-6518 or beth@ehumc.org

PRAYER MINISTRY TEAM
Members of this team have a heart for prayer and meet each month to pray, plan, and direct the prayer potential of the church. Through active listening and spirited dialogue, this team searches God's heart, shares ideas, and works to identify and implement opportunities to awaken and renew personal passion for God and for prayer.

PRAYER VIGIL/EVENT TEAM
Participate in planning, promoting, and running various prayer vigils and/or events held throughout the year. Such events include the Easter and the Fall prayer vigils as well as prayer breakfasts, August kick-off dinner, and the Day of Work and Prayer.

PRAYER ROOM OUTREACH
The prayer room on the west side of the Sanctuary provides a peaceful and comfortable atmosphere away from your busy life where you may spend time with God and intercede for those needing prayer. Prayer guides, CD's, and other resources are available there.
Prayer requests come into the church every day and are placed on the desk in the Prayer Room so that we may pray for those prayer needs. You also may place your prayer request in the room for other intercessors to pray over. The room, which is open when the church building is open, is available for regularly scheduled prayer or you may come when you can. Call Beth Strickler in the church office to reserve a weekly prayer time.

PRAYER TEAMS FOR WORSHIP

These prayer groups are open to all and meet for 15 minutes on Sunday mornings, to pray for our pastors, teachers, congregation, worship services, and community.
- 8:15 a.m. in the Prayer Room
- 9:30 a.m. in Hedrick Hall

UMW PRAYER CHAIN
The East Heights United Methodist Women's Prayer Chain is available to anyone needing immediate prayer. The prayer chain can be activated by calling Eleanor Cracraft at 682-2460 or the church office at 682-6518.

PRAYER PARTNERS
The prayer partner ministry has been active at East Heights since 2000. This ministry links prayer volunteers with those requesting daily prayer. You may request a prayer partner for yourself or someone else by contacting one of the pastors, by recording your request on a prayer card in the worship folders, or by calling Beth Strickler in the church office at 682-6518.

CHAPEL PRAYER - Wednesdays, 5:30-6:00 Mid-week prayer, meditation and Communion is available at East Heights in the Chapel each Wednesday. The format varies, but this service includes time for silent prayer, a brief devotional message and Holy Communion and is conducted by Rev. Charles Claycomb.

PRAYER FOR PASTORS AND STAFF
If you would like to partner with our pastors to lift them up in prayer daily and to prayerfully form a shield of protection and blessing for them, their ministries and their families, contact Beth Strickler. Pastor prayer teams meet once a month.

YOUTH PRAYER TEAM

Cover our youth in prayer and encourage them to grow in their faith with this prayer ministry. Adults gather in the Youth Prayer Pit on the last Wednesday of the month any time between 6:00 and 8:30 p.m. There are prayer guides, pictures of the youth and inspirational cards for you to use in praying for them.  Contact: Paige Nelson or Beth Strickler

PRAYER BLANKETS
Fleece prayer blankets are available for our shut-ins and others in special need of prayer. The blankets are a loving, tangible reminder of the prayers of this faith community and of God's love for those in need.  To request a prayer blanket for someone in need or to make a blanket for this ministry, contact Beth Strickler.

PRAYING WITH YOUR BABY

This ministry provides baby blankets for newborns of the church along with a brochure and prayer booklet from The Blessing Center. The newborns and their families are prayed for and the blankets are blessed by our pastors and congregation before being presented to the parents. Contact: Beth Strickler or Becky Hilts.
