Dental Supply Drive: We are collecting dental supplies (toothbrushes, toothpaste, floss) through the end of the month. The youth will then assemble the dental kits for the Grace Med Dental Clinics in November. Please bring your donations and drop them in the collection bin outside the Program Office or by Hedrick Hall. You may also give on-line at www.ehumc.org
Trunk or Treat is THIS SUNDAY from 5 p.m. – 7 p.m. in the South Parking Lot! Invite your family and friends to join us for a fun night of candy, hotdogs, cotton candy, popcorn, games, prizes, trunks, and costumes!
We need Candy and Volunteers for Trunk or Treat! If you would like to help us make sure we have enough candy for all the kiddos that will be at Trunk or Treat, you can bring candy donations to the Candy Monster in the Coffee House. Family Promise Week: Our Family Promise guests arrive this Sunday, October 25th and will be here through the morning of November 1st. We would love to have you join us as we welcome them for the week. We still have a few things on our grab and go breakfast and lunch item list East Heights UMC: Family Promise Week Food Needs and a few spots still available to volunteer East Heights UMC Host Week | VOMO The VOMO is a new volunteer sign-up, replacing Sign-Up Genius so you will need to create an account to be able to sign-up. Once you do, you will just need to log-in after that. You may also give financially for any needs that may come up during the week at www.ehumc.org/give. Ladies Yoga and Fellowship – November 1st: Join a ladies only of any age and ability beginner yoga class to renew your spirit! We do this on the first Saturday of every month! The class is designed for all levels, including the self-proclaimed not flexible. Spots are limited to 20! We will begin at 10 a.m. in Hedrick Hall. Dorcas Boutique – Round 2: Dorcas Circle thanks you for shopping with us last month and invites you back to the Coffee House November 8 from 9:30 a.m. – 12:15 p.m., selling items left from our last sale PLUS some new handmade merch. There might even be some markdowns! Proceeds are used to replenish and for the missions and ministries of East Heights. We’ll also be accepting donations for our Quilts of Valor project. You are Invited to our next Quilts of Valor Presentation: On Wednesday, November 11 at 6:00 p.m. in East Heights Chapel, Josh Hartman, Hannah Heath, and Jim Miller will be honored with a Quilt of Valor. “A Quilt of Valor is a civilian award to our active-duty service members and veterans. The recipient earned the Quilt of Valor through selfless service and sacrifice in defense of our nation. Recipients are nominated based on their military service and the award focuses on that service.” Please join us to honor Josh, Hannah and Jim.
Jefferson Care Ministry: East Heights United Methodist Church has partnered in some capacity with Jefferson Elementary School since 1946. This month, we are excited to launch a new program: Jefferson Care Ministry. With 381 students, 92% live in or at risk of poverty and 80% come from historically underrepresented backgrounds. With this, our leaders and volunteers have noticed a rise in requests for basic needs such as hygiene products, clothing items, household goods, and more. Some of the 54 staff members at the school have developed an online form they can fill out to make known the needs of their students. That form will be received by our Jefferson Care Ministry team who will either purchase the item in case of an emergency or update an online sign-up. Here’s how you can help! The link is below and you can provide for the basic needs of Jefferson students and families. Simply click the link, sign up to purchase an item, buy it, and deliver it to East Heights. This is a simple and vital ministry to support as we look to provide for local families in our community. Thie list will be updated as we receive requests, so be on the lookout each week! Jefferson Clothes Drive: SEPARATE FROM OUR NEW JEFFERSON CARE MINISTRY, staff at Jefferson Elementary School have reached out and asked that we do our annual coat drive early this year as meteorologists are predicting colder temperatures earlier than usual. They would like to have coats before Thanksgiving to hand to children and families before the break. In addition, they are asking for pants and shoes for the students. They do not need scarves, mittens, gloves, or hats. If you would like to help, please have your donations to East Heights by November 15th.
1. Coats: Children’s size 4/5 through Adult Large
2. Tennis Shoes: Little Kid’s size 11 through Adult size 8
3. Pants: Sizes 4-10 – girls or boys

Pick Up a Thanksgiving Food Bag for Those in Need: Please pick up a grocery sack from around the church and fill it with food for a meal during the Thanksgiving holiday time. The food will be given to hungry families through-out Wichita through communities such as, United Methodist Open Door and Jefferson Elementary School. Here’s what should be included in each sack: 2 cans of Vegetable #1, 2 cans of Vegetable #2, 2 cans of Vegetable #3, 2 cans of Fruit, 2 boxes of Mac & Cheese, 2 package of Ramen Noodles, and 4 Thanksgiving items (stuffing, sweet potatoes, etc.) Bags are due on or before November 15th. Bags may be dropped off in the Dining Room prior to November 15th or placed in the van and trailer by Hedrick Hall the morning of November 15th.
